I’m very excited to announce that I will be teaching a two-day course on field walling and gapping for Black Mountains College in Wales, August 27th & 28th, 2019. The course is limited to six participants, and the real treat is that one evening I’m paired up with writer Owen Sheers one evening for some literary discussion!
I will announce more UK and international dates for 2019 when the paperback is released sometime in the summer. For now, I am available by request, eager to talk to bookshops, book clubs, school groups, and the like. Y’all, I just like to talk and meet folks, and if you’re interested in the book, too, that’s great.
In the meantime, I will have my head down working as a curator on a program for the 2020 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, which will take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC, June and July 2020. (Don’t worry: I’ll be back out on the wall before too long. This is a temporary gig! It’s the only way they could get me to say yes to a desk!) We’re talking culture, environment, community, and traditional knowledge, and I’ll be shepherding the Louisiana portion of the show. Stay tuned.
Includes a glass of wine (or alternative) on arrival and a chance to purchase the book at a discounted price.
